Negotiations are currently ongoing between our country and Croatia. The goal of the Hungarian government is to reach an agreement that benefits everyone. The point is to create a program that actually serves the economic strengthening of the southern Transdanubian border region. The approval of the European Commission will then take place, after which the first calls for tenders may appear. Pannon EGTC completes the programming work at the end of April, and is ready for the program to start.

Basically, five different thematic areas have been defined, on the basis of which it will be possible to apply for economic development, energy, nature conservation, tourism, education and cooperation topics.

According to the plans, the B Light program, which was also successful in the previous cycle, will continue, which is intended to support the joint developments of Hungarian and Croatian enterprises. Promotion of the region's economy is unthinkable without the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. Because of the runaway energy prices, tenders for energy modernization and vision reform are equally important.

Tourism developments are always very popular, and it is expected that this will continue to be the case in the future. These investments all contribute to the economic strengthening of the region. Educational and cooperation projects are extremely important for educational institutions, civil organizations and various public administration bodies. With the help of the tenders, the interested parties of the two countries can exchange experience with each other and develop common educational, attitude-forming or procedural materials that can make both education and various public administration procedures easier and more efficient.

It was said at the event that the Hungarian-Croatian border program for 2021-27 has almost the same resources as in the 2014-20 cycle. This nearly 60 million euros is 80% from the European Union, the so-called European Regional Development Fund support part, to which is added the domestic co-financing of the Hungarian state, which, depending on the subject of the application, can be supplemented up to 100%. Thus, a total of approximately 70-75 million euros worth of projects are expected to be implemented within the framework of the program.
