Green Transition and Labour – Strategic Thinking for the Future in Pécs

On April 29, 2025, the Pannon European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (Pannon EGTC) participated in the strategic workshop titled “Green Transition and Labour – What Awaits Us in 2035?”, organized by the Confederation of Hungarian Employers and Industrialists (MGYOSZ) in Pécs.

The exclusive, small-group format of the event enabled meaningful and focused professional dialogue among participants.

The aim of the workshop was to explore the challenges and opportunities businesses may face in the coming decade due to the pressures of green transition, especially from a labour market perspective. Through the methodology of scenario planning, we discussed what the “green pressure” could mean in practice: what new skills, technologies and adaptation strategies will be needed.

For Pannon EGTC, this event was an excellent opportunity to strengthen our strategic cooperation with MGYOSZ. At regional level, we consider it essential to support the green transition — from initiating cross-border sustainability projects to developing sustainable economic models and sharing good practices. The insights gained from this workshop will be integrated into our long-term development strategies.

It became clear from the workshop discussions that the green transition is not just an environmental issue — it represents a complex economic and social transformation where human capital will play a key role. The national event series coordinated by MGYOSZ provides a unique platform for companies, policymakers and civil actors to shape the future together.

We are especially pleased that the national findings of the series will also be presented again in Pécs in the second half of 2025.
