The Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek joins Pannon EGTC
The purpose of their visit was, on the one hand, to join Pannon EGTC, of which University of Pécs is also a member, and to examine the possibilities of further deepening the decades-long cooperation between the two higher education institutions.
On behalf of the Croatian partner university, dr. Vlado Guberac, rector, and dr. Sonja Vila, academic and international vice-rector, arrived in Pécs. János Magdó, Consul General of Hungary in Osijek, dr Katalin Szili, curator of the UQA, dr Éva Mikes, curator of the UQA, dr Péter Merza, director of the Pannon EGTC, dr Judit Füzér, deputy director of Pannon EGTC and Lívia Tóth, the organization's financial director. "We formulated the goal to find as many connection points as possible in the large region around the Croatian-Hungarian border," stressed Dr. Curator Éva Mikes at the meeting, then added:
"University of Pécs is a large university of the region with national significance, and the University of Osijek is our partner in this, which is why we would be happy to further develop relations."
Twelve thousand students study in fourteen faculties at the Osijek partner university, which has a fifty-year history, three of which are at the university level. They are assisted by two thousand to three hundred employees. "Our relationship with Pécs is the most fruitful, which manifests itself in scientific research cooperation. We gained serious experience in the field of international projects implemented with Universtiy of Pécs, and I would also like to highlight the cooperation between art academies", emphasized Dr. Vlado Guberac, rector of the University of Osijek. "The Senate unanimously voted for Josip Juraj Strossmayer University to join the Pannon EGTC," reported dr. vice rector Sonja Vila.
