Our project "CrossMarkets - Institutional Cooperation to Increase Cross-Border Sales in the Local Farmers' Market" has started
The aim of the project is to find concrete (small-scale) solutions in the framework of the cooperation of the owners / operators of the local producer markets and the local farmers in order to give both Hungarian and Croatian local producers the same opportunities on both sides of the Croatian-Hungarian border. At present, the regulation is not the same on both sides of the border, which in itself would not be an obstacle, but e.g. linguistic constraints also prevent local producers from cutting into cross-border sales.
Project activities:
Exploring the current situation (legal, regulatory environment, daily practice, as well as the needs and requirements of the relevant actors), identifying possible areas for intervention (workshops and a questionnaire survey will be conducted in the area on both sides of the border);
Collecting, structuring and making available in local language all the information needed for local producers to sell on the other side of the border (we will make the most important rules available in Hungarian and Croatian on the website of the EGTC and the market operators, in the form of brochures and information materials for farmers);
Based on the experience, formulate policy recommendations in order to change the legal / regulatory environment (if necessary, we will make proposals to the Hungarian and Croatian ministries and decision-makers to amend the regulations).
The amount of the grant is EUR 20,000, the project will run from 1 September 2018 to 31 October 2019.
